Twa sisters lived intae one bower,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
and a young knicht cam tae be their wooer,
by the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

He coorted the elder wi a brooch and a ring,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
but he loo’ed the younger abune a’ thing,
by the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

He coorted the elder wi’ the glove and the knife,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
but he loo’ed the younger abune his life,
by the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

O sister, sister we’ll gyaun tae the dam,
Binnorie o, Binnorie,
tae see oor faither’s shippy comin’ in
tae the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

O sister, sister ye’ll lap on a stane,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
but the elder danged the younger in
tae the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

O sister, sister ye’ll gi’e me yir haund,
Binnorie o, binnorie
and it’s ye’ll hae my hooses and a’ my laund
and the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

O sister, sister ye’ll no’ ha’e my haund,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
and I’ll aye ha’e yir hooses and a’ yir laund,
and the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

O sister, sister ye’ll gi’e me yir glove,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
and ye’ll hae the hairt o’ my ain true love,
by the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

O sister, sister ye’ll no’ hae my glove,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
and I’ll aye ha’e the hairt o’ yir ain true love,
by the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

Sometimes she sank, sometimes she swam,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
until she cam tae her faither’s dam
by the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

It’s by their cam a harper fine,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
tae play at the court while the King did dine,
Binnorie o, Binnorie.

He’s ta’en three locks o’ her gowden hair,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
and strung them tae his harp sae fair,
by the bonny mill dams o Binnorie.

Noo the firsten tune that the harp did sing,
Binnotie o, Binnorie
was fareweel tae my faither the King,
and the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

And the neisten tune that the harp played syne,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
was fareweel tae my mither the Queen,
by the bonny mill dams o Binnorie

But the lasten tune that he played then,
Binnorie o, Binnorie
was wae tae my sister fause, fause Ellen,
and the bonny mill dams o’ Binnorie.

Song Notes: This is a very old song and exists in many versions. Jack Beck decided to learn the song partly because it is local to him.
