There lived twa sisters in ae bower
Binnorie o Binnorie
And there cam a young miller lad tae be their wooer
By the bonnie mill dams o Binnorie
He’s courted the eldest wi brooch and ring
But he’s looed the youngest abeen a thing
He’s courted the eldest wi a his land
But he’s looed the youngest wi his right hand
O sister, sister gang doon tae the broom
Tae hear the Blackbird sing his tune
Sae they gaed tae the broom and stood on a stane
And thrice the Blackbird changed his tune
O sister, sister gang doon tae the dam
Tae see yer faithers boat comin in
Sae they gaed tae the dam and stood on a stane
Ane the eldest danged the youngest in
She swam up and she swan doon
Till she cam tae far her sister did stand
O sister, sister gie me yer hand
And ye can hae the miller lad and a his land
It wisnae for that I danged ye in
But ye wis fair and I wis din
The miller’s daughter cam doon tae the dam
Gist tae get some water tae wash her faithers hands
O faither, o faither come doon tae the dam
Binnorie o Binnorie
For it’s either a maid or a milk white swan
Has drooned in the dam o Binnorie
Well there’s nane o them a kent her face sae fair
Binnorie o Binnorie
But weel kent the miller lad by her yalla hair
Twis his ain bonnie lass o Binnorie
