Norman Kennedy -"Live in Scotland" The Living Tradition LTCD2002

HEAR SAMPLE TRACKS

Norman Kennedy left Scotland for America over thirty years ago but has lost neither his accent nor his feeling for his native traditional song. Whatever he sings, he sends its message winging home, whether dramatic, as in The Cruel Mother, or light hearted' like Nancy Whisky or Band O'Shearers.

Long hours of listening and learning in the company of former greats like Jeannie Robertson have given him the depth of understanding that informs all his performances. He has become a master singer, one of the best in the world in my opinion. He is a singer in full control of his voice and his material. And, judging by these live tracks, fully in control of an appreciative audience too.

Roy Harris.
